The All Around Public Health Effort

Leanne and Michelle held their public health sticker in front of the Metropolitan Ministries centre. Metropolitan Ministries is a place where those in need can go and recieve help, it's basically a safety net for individuals that are much less fortunate. We chose this location because we felt it portrayed the very things public health encompasses. For the past 35 years Metropolitan Ministries have found ways to help homeless families and hungry people. Some of the services they provide are: residence services, counseling, health and nurtitional services, youth programs, sobriety recovery, employment services, money management, as well as an adult education - GED program.
Metropolitan Ministries represents many public health issues as can be seen above. The main public health issue they deal with is helping those in poverty. Although it may be difficult to notice the high amount of people in poverty there are many and Metropolitan Ministries go out of their way to help those in need. They have a great volunteer opportunity for those that are interested in helping them fight homelessness and hunger in the Tampa Bay community. With U.S health care being a problem in the U.S today they do their best to make sure that those without a living facility or care are able to live. This is important because without the many needs Mertropolitan Ministries covers, many more in the Tampa community would be suffering. Further, this is an important issue because through this organization the census bureau can count some of the homeless to include in their numbers for the population of our community. In general, Metropolitan Ministries are doing thier part to help the public health issue of homelessness and hunger.

  1. I think this is a great example of public health because it helps achieve the social justice idea of everyone being assured their fundamental rights. It is very important that people are taken care of so that they are safe and as healthy as possible. They help promote and facilitate better lives for people through their programs. I also liked that you mentioned this is a way for the census bureau to count some of the homeless because this is another important issue and I had not really thought about that before.

  2. I'll have to agree with Alysa on the fact that Metropolitan Ministries is a great way to account for homeless people when it comes to the census. I had never thought of that as a use for this organization. Another thing I hadn't realized is how complex Metropolitan Ministries' services are. Each service betters the health of those in need by increasing their access to health resources, and thus reducing their risk of disease.

  3. In short, one can see many things in Pakistan's healthcare sector shaping up for the betterment of this nation. Most of the things are still in the development stage, but we can clearly see the difference that has emerged over the last few years and it can be safely said that the very best of Pakistan's healthcare industry is about to come. papa murphy's diabetic friendly
